13i) you could runaway, write a diary, (marrying is sooo old fashioned as a mean of escape) but, in the long term, you can prove yourself. (your brain is your ticket out)

iii) I prefer "A Small, Good Thing" because the story is more detailed and easier to understand. The author altered the storyline so that the characters seem to be more humane towards each other.
